Girls Who Code was established with a singular mission—to close the gender gap in technology fields by educating and equipping girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Programs, the Program Manager will ensure the growth and quality of the College Loops program.

College Loops is the backbone of Workforce Programs, connecting women and non-binary students studying computer science and related fields on their individual campuses and within their own communities. The program helps students successfully prepare for futures in the tech industry by facilitating connections with other students to increase retention as well offering professional and technical skill-building opportunities. In 2020 there were 158 College Loops, and the Program Manager will work to expand to new campuses, retain existing Loops, and develop and implement new content.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of demonstrated experience developing and managing educational programs and complex projects in a dynamic, metrics-driven environment, and is comfortable leading high-profile, cross-team initiatives. They are able to track multiple projects at the same time, suggest research-based iterations and improvements, and deliver timely and high-quality work.

The successful candidate brings experience working with college-aged students and/or workforce development experience and a commitment to the Girls Who Code mission.


  • Grow our College Loops program to reach more universities and more college-aged women in STEM through research, creative outreach, and new programming.
  • Expand our reach and deepen our relationships with students from marginalized backgrounds, by developing and executing outreach strategies to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and community college networks.
  • Lead a cross-team collaboration to develop new programming and events for College Loops based on existing and emerging research.
  • Manage program timeline and communications, including application process, renewals, orientations, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with System Operations team to ensure data collection and documentation are comprehensive and well-maintained.
  • Manage inventory of program materials and supplies, and liaise with vendors to research and investigate additional items.
  • Report program outcomes (in collaboration with Research Team), and track key metrics.
  • Report on program outcomes, including participation rates, diversity of participants, participant satisfaction, and projected growth.
  • Advocate for Girls Who Code alumni and help develop relationships and opportunities to further their learning and professional growth


  • At least 4 years prior experience in managing programs targeting diverse college-aged students, experience with HBCUs, Tribal Colleges, Hispanic-Serving Institutions or community college networks preferred
  • Detail-oriented; superb organizational skills
  • Experience working with complex operations, workflows, and systems; as well as designing and implementing new processes
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and tools as needed. Resourceful and comfortable asking questions, seeking out training, and researching online when faced with a new challenge.
  • Strong project management skills, alongside an ability to anticipate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where projects may be re-scoped or pivoted to better address organizational needs.
  • Able to manage both high-level project plans and strategic analysis as well as willingness to pitch in to execute programs. An all-hands-on-deck attitude.
  • Desire to learn and grow as part of a small organization; team player with a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary (~10%)
