Community Education Specialist 1

Salary Range: $16.14 - $32.42 Hourly

The role of this position is to assist with the provision of evidence-based prevention services to maltreated children and their caregivers under the direct supervision of a mental health therapist, to support research and evaluation related to the provision of these services, and to assist training efforts in an evidence-based parenting intervention to mental health professionals and paraprofessionals, and training in an adaptation of that intervention to the child-serving workforce.


Required Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish speaker

• Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to clearly, effectively and diplomatically interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization to convey instructions, directions and information appropriately and accurately while and promoting the goals of the organization.

• Organizational skill to organize a variety of concurrent activities, set realistic goals and objectives, plan ahead and meet deadlines without compromising quality

• Good writing skills to write clear and concise notes.

• Experience working independently and collaboratively with other professionals.

• Good decision-making skills and use of sound judgement.

• Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, (e.g., Tarasoff, confidentiality, etc.). Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy.

• Knowledge of and experience with but not limited to: Various software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Access), email systems and internet.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE) Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), parent-child Interaction coding systems, and Child Welfare Services.

• Knowledge of child development and experience working with children and families.


Special Requirements

• Valid CA Driver's License and regular access to a car.

• Participate in the DMV Pull Notice

• This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
