Program Manager, Leading Places to Work

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 25, 2022 at 11pm ET.

SALARY: $75k-$85k

LOCATION: Remote, U.S. only, East Coast preferred. Must be open to occasional travel when Covid restrictions permit.

Since its founding, Leading Edge has become the central address for talent and culture in the Jewish nonprofit sector, changing the way the Jewish community thinks and talks about talent development and organizational culture. Our flagship program areas focus on supporting and developing CEOs and Executive Teams, strengthening partnerships between board leaders and professionals, and helping to create great workplace culture.

Leading Edge believes that data can be a powerful tool in improving organizational culture. We currently offer two surveys: an annual Employee Experience Survey and a “Pulse” survey which serves as a mid-point check-in to see how organizations are making progress on their talent aspirations. We use the rich data gathered in these surveys to help organizations assess and improve their cultures and to better understand major talent trends affecting the Jewish nonprofit sector. Following the survey, each organization has an opportunity to engage in expert consultations to determine how to use the data to best support their staff.

This Program Manager will help craft these surveys and then manage and implement the consultation process, ensuring that organizations get the support they need to act on their results. In partnership with the VP, Leading Places to Work, the Program Manager will analyze trends and hot spots in the data that will help shape our programmatic offerings. In years past, this has included supervisor training and workshops to overhaul an organization’s compensation philosophy and model. In many ways, the Program Manager functions as a “Survey Outcomes Concierge”, considering the full opportunities data can provide, and the interventions that the data suggests.

Survey Design - 10%

  • Partner with the team to design our surveys, using input from past surveys, research, and participant feedback.
  • Continue to determine the right platforms and tools for survey design and implementation.

Consultation Planning and Support - 25%

  • Develop a plan to recruit and train survey consultants to help organizations navigate their survey data.
  • Devise strategies to encourage organizations to participate in consultations to maximize learning from their survey results.
  • Determine and develop the most effective tools for consultants and organizations to share information about their data prior to their consultation.
  • Maintain a strong and comprehensive project plan to track progress on consultations and provide detail-oriented and thorough logistical support so they are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Connect with consultants to understand and synthesize themes coming out of organizations’ consultations.

Post-Survey Strategy and Action Planning - 40%

  • In partnership with the team, develop a strategy for how organizations can best leverage survey data year-round to inform their talent planning, accessing consultant support, and other current and future interventions.
  • Cull insights from survey data to make recommendations for concrete supports that Leading Edge can offer to organizations post-survey (e.g. a series of workshops, targeted webinars, integration with other Leading Edge offerings).
  • Develop at least one programmatic offering, in partnership with other members of the team, that can be piloted with a group of organizations (i.e. training or workshop on a topic of need).
  • As needed, present survey findings and recommended actions for focus areas to partner organizations (this may also include informing resources and training developed by other partners).

Research and Thought Leadership - 25%

  • Stay informed on evolving workplace trends and insights, create resources, and directly support organizations related to specific topics (in the past, this has included topics such as creating a compensation philosophy and salary bands, building a strong culture for feedback, delivering effective performance reviews).
  • In partnership with our communications team, use insights to inform an editorial calendar for Leading Edge resources (e.g. blog posts, toolkits).

Team and Organizational Stewardship - Ongoing

  • Dynamic program contribution: As an organization, we frequently have the opportunity to invest in and develop new programming for the sector. We expect this role will help us brainstorm and implement new ideas. Presently, one such offering is Talent Compass, a one-year investment in organizations to pursue specific talent and culture outcomes. The Program Manager will help us see this project to the finish line, including analyzing return on investment and what ideas we may want to scale for the future.
  • Additional team contributions: We love to think about how team members can grow and apply their strengths to projects across the organization. This may include participating in hiring committees, engaging in team-wide learning around diversity, equity, and inclusion, and generating new ideas and ways to work together.

You are:

  • A thoughtful relationship builder. You are able to develop positive and productive working relationships - whether in person or more than likely, over Zoom, to support people and move work forward.
  • A strong project manager. You know how to drive a high-level project from start to finish. You love setting the tone, making the plan, clarifying roles, and mobilizing others to join you in systematically bringing a project to life.
  • A data storyteller. You are able to create simple and clear takeaways from data that our partners can use to spur action. You have practical experience with Excel and Google Sheets to navigate data with a high level of proficiency.
  • Exceptional at motivating others. You understand what drives behavior and can use your insights to inspire others to work toward key outcomes - whether this is a consultant signing on to work with us, or an organization poised to take action on their survey results.
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about organizational development and workplace culture. You think and care a lot about what makes teams effective and are eager to help others get there.
  • A detail-oriented, thoughtful communicator. You can produce clear, well-written deliverables that inspire others to act. You have good instincts around the right medium for various types of communication.
  • You believe that diversity is a strength. You account for the value of diversity in every aspect of your work and you understand the nuances of diversity that shape the Jewish nonprofit sector. You want the Jewish community and Leading Edge to live out a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Passionate about the work. You are motivated by the mission of Leading Edge and you have a deep connection and desire for this work to exist in the world.
  • Collaborative. You enjoy learning from and with talented colleagues and are excited to be part of the success of the whole organization.
  • Self-directed. At the same time, you are a motivated and reflective independent thinker. You can set and work toward deadlines effectively.

You should have:
