CREATIVE DIRECTOR | BOSTON, NYC, LOS ANGELES, LONDON

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a hands-on Creative Director to lead our brand through it’s next evolution. It’s a really exciting time at Sofar and this is an incredible opportunity to be at the heart of a mission-based, industry-defining consumer brand on the edge of hyper-growth.

You will have creative ownership of the Sofar brand - developing concepts, content, creative and editorial that proudly tell our story to global audiences. 

Sofar has worked with over 30,000 artists, hosted over 1,000,000 fans at shows around the world and engages with millions more online each month. You will be the leader of a creative team who is passionate about creating a culture that supports artists and introduces their music to new fans.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Brand positioning and identity

  • Nurture and guard our newly delivered brand guidelines ensuring they continue to evolve along as our business expands 
  • Ensure visual and messaging consistency across multiple platforms
  • Work cross-functionally with product and the tech design team to support the implementation and execution of the brand on owned platforms 
  • Work with our content operations and social media teams to implement new video guidelines and concepts for YouTube, TIkTok and other social media channels
  • Partner with concert operations and show organizers to bring our brand to life at all of our shows and in all of our spaces

Develop and oversee campaigns, content and editorial

  • Create compelling, insight-led, concepts and assets that drive our audience development and growth marketing activities across paid media, CRM and social, ensuring that our creative output is deeply rooted in audience data
  • Concept and develop audio, visual and written content that upholds and builds our brand value in locally relevant ways
  • Establish an artist-first editorial voice that represents of all of the cities we operate in and create new opportunities to showcase artists across our properties
  • Bring new ideas and processes that positively impact and foster collaboration within the marketing team 
  • Develop creative concepts for our Commercial Partnership team and ensure campaigns produced by them and our external partners (creative and production agencies) are on brand

Build our creative studio and processes

  • Lead and direct the creative team in the production of all marketing assets
  • Produce creative, content and editorial that positions our brand as an artist focussed, humble celebrator of our community
  • Partner with our head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and business operations teams to ensure our creative output is representative of the cities we’re in
  • Build a network of creatives and music writers from around the world
  • Establish an efficient creative review process from conception to completion
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams (marketing, concert operations, production, tech) to build our processes for collecting and managing our incredible library of photography, video and audio assets
  • Partner with our audience development and growth marketing teams to use data to inform our creative output

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Significant experience in creative leadership, preferably at a music or consumer-focused, fast-growth venture-backed company with a strong portfolio of work showing the creative ability to articulate ideas across disciplines
  • A curious and open-minded creative risk-taker that has launched multiple integrated campaigns across online, social media, editorial, and experiential, on a global scale
  • Strategic thinker, with a proven track record of translating objectives into clear creative strategies and storytelling 
  • Obsessed with consumer behavior and how storytelling inspires people to take action
  • Determined that your creative output be inclusive and connect with diverse audiences
  • Experience building and overseeing a high performing and diverse team (experience with remote teams) is a big plus 
  • A person who shares our passion for supporting artists and local creative communities
