Tech + Digital

May 5

ioby has an exciting job opportunity for software developers right out of bootcamp.

Recognized for our contribution to civic tech and innovation by the Rockefeller Foundation, President and Mrs. Obama and many others, ioby’s mission is transform residents with great ideas into powerful civic leaders who plan, fund and make their ideas for their neighborhoods come to life. We are at the beginning of rebuilding our product based on feedback we’ve received from the people we serve and new lessons from the pandemic. We’re looking for another developer to join our small and mighty team.

We build with a Rails/React/PostgreSQL stack; if you’re an experienced Ruby on Rails and/or React developer, that’s great! If you have no experience with this stack, but are eager to learn, also great! We value a collaborative and supportive work environment, with an emphasis on mentorship. We regularly pair program, and we encourage everyone on the team to ask questions and offer opinions. We love to teach, but we also believe that everyone has something to teach, so we look forward to learning from you!

ioby has been working on making our programs and our organization more equitable and more inclusive for many years. You can read our commitment to equity and the timeline of milestones we’ve achieved so far. We also recently released our Digital Inclusion Policy as part of our Racial Equity & Inclusion framework that is currently under development in a co-creation process among our staff and Board of Directors, led by ioby Board member and award-winning writer Nadia Owusu. Being a part of our team means that you have an enthusiastic commitment to building products for marginalized and oppressed communities and are enthusiastic to participate in our ongoing antiracism work.

ioby is a distributed team. This position can be based remotely anywhere in the United States. This job may require occasional work hours outside of ioby’s regular business hours (9am–6pm Eastern; Monday through Friday) and some occasional travel.
