Digital Project Manager
Job Summary
The Digital Project Manager oversees the Race, Research and Policy Portal (RRAPP) as well as all digital communications and websites for the Institutional Antiracism and Accountability (IARA) Project at Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with racial justice or racial equity, exceptional communication and organization skills, and willingness to approach problems with creativity and resilience. Position Description
Under the leadership of Director Khalil Gibran Muhammad, Ford Foundation Professor of History, Race and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, IARA uses research and policy to promote antiracism as a core value and organizational norm. The Digital Project Manager is responsible at a highly independent level for broad oversight and day to day management of RRAPP, IARA’s other digital platforms, and a broader web presence that includes email, web, and social media. They will help establish RRAPP as a leading repository of knowledge and materials for the public, practitioners, researchers, and organizational leaders, further adding to the field of racial equity and the understanding of antiracist change in institutional capacity building. Specific responsibilities include:
Content Management
- Lead the editorial process and review cycles for a robust pipeline of article summaries and other deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Supervise a student editor and five to seven graduate student writers who synthesize current research and write/edit article summaries, from recruiting and onboarding to providing ongoing direction and support.
- Identify and assign articles, review and edit drafts, and create multimedia such as interviewing researchers for video content that furthers the ideas and articles highlighted on RRAPP.
- Ensure processes flow smoothly for the people and content involved in the production of RRAPP.
Audience Building and Strategic Planning
- Enable new audiences to discover and learn about IARA’s work and the latest research on antiracist change several dissemination activities.
- Work with Ash Center and IARA colleagues to develop and execute a robust strategy to identify, develop, and reach new audiences for RRAPP.
- Collect and utilize data, metrics, and other feedback to ensure relevance of content and reinforce a regular growth plan.
IARA Communications and other Project-wide Duties
- Lead digital web marketing strategy, including advertising and email marketing, for RRAPP and other IARA programming such as its annual Truth and Transformation conference.
- Oversee and maintain all IARA web properties to ensure they remain user-friendly, fresh, and accessible platforms.
- Manage IARA’s research library on Zotero, including cleaning of materials, upkeep, storage, and organization.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 years relevant experience

• Strong project management, coordination, and email communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs and basic functions of Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel

• Comfortable developing and sending communications marketing email
• Experience with using common social media platforms
• Experience with WordPress
• Multimedia development experience, proficiency with the Adobe Suite
• Familiarity with how to develop and publish accessible content
• Familiarity with Google Analytics
• Prior experience with Salesforce

This is a hybrid position based on our campus in Cambridge, MA. The position is required to work in-person on campus a minimum of three days per week during the academic year. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

Salary Range: $61,400 - $100,600
Note: Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range; however, they are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
