We are looking for a collaborative and detail-oriented candidate interested in the intersection of product and retail/fashion to join our team as a Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of experience at a large accounting firm and / or in a similar role at a high-growth startup. As the first Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for helping us make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting the company's finances. This person will serve as a bridge between finance and departmental functions at Ghost. Ghost is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, where this position is located.


  • Work with sales, merchandising, and product teams to ensure all accounting and financial data is 100% accurate.
  • Responsible for full accounts payable cycle including creating new vendors, reviewing and posting invoices, and processing payables.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and manage collections from buyers..
  • Support month, quarter, and year-end closes by preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and investigating variances.
  • Optimizing EOM closings and providing innovative and efficient ways to successfully expedite EOM processing. 
  • Maintain and record schedules related to Prepaids, Accrued Expenses, COGS, Depreciation, and more.
  • Work with merchandise and sales team to keep accurate reporting of managed and consignment inventory and all transaction data.
  • Be a voice for the finance team, by managing expenses, keeping leadership in the loop and creating a healthy spend culture for future expenses and initiatives. 
  • Build and manage seller compliance processes including collection and tracking of sales tax and resale licenses from our retail clients
  • Respond to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits. Prepare special financial reports, when requested by senior managers, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.


  • 2 - 4 years relevant experience, ideally at a large accounting firm and/or prior startup experience  
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a mathematical genius.
  • Be a self-starter who can juggle many balls, prioritize & execute without micro-management, and proactively ask for help when needed.
  • Comfortable working in-office 5 days a week.
